High performance glazing: for over 40 years Stellantis has chosen Isoclima for its protected cars glazing

Isoclima’s adventure in the automotive sector and in the design of high-performance glass has deep roots that date back to the ‘80s, when the collaboration with Stellantis, Fiat at the time, gave its first results. The first significant project was for the Fiat Argenta, commissioned for the President of the Republic. On that vehicle, flat armored glass panels were added to the inside, while keeping the original outer glazings. Since then, a series of important projects has marked the company’s history, including the Fiat Croma (a fully armored flagship car and for this reason adopted for the safety of state representatives) and the Fiat Marea (the first to be produced in the Mirafiori industrial center), which have revolutionized the concept of automotive protection in Italy. The Fiat Marea was the forerunner to the semi- armored police cars, thanks to its armored windscreen and the anti-penetration sidelights and backlight.

Different projects, one single choice

Every Isoclima project in the automotive sector brings with it a constant commitment to safety and innovation. The collaboration with Stellantis lasts due to our reliability in high-performance glazing. From Alfa Romeo 156 to Fiat Bravo, from Alfa Romeo Giulietta to the recent Alfa Romeo Giulia, every car has benefited from the experience and advanced technology offered by Isoclima. From armored windshields anti-penetration sidelights, every detail has been designed to ensure maximum protection for drivers and passengers. And it’s not just about safety: Isoclima glasses, while offering a level of protection without compromise, maintain impeccable optical properties, ensuring an unparalleled driving experience.

A significant achievement is represented by the Fiat Bravo. This car was produced from 2007 to 2014 in a semi-armored version for the Police. In this project, the cars were strengthened - for the first time from the ballistic point of view - via ballistic steel components.

Beyond the glass

Isoclima’s commitment to innovation does not extend to safety and the creation of high-performance glass only. Projects such as the Lancia Thesis and the Maserati Quattroporte demonstrate the company’s ability to push the boundaries of automotive engineering.

Emblematic is the case of the Lancia Thesis, which represents a further evolution in our R&D process: produced from 2002 to 2009, it was designed in different levels of ballistic protection. Some have transported heads of state and escort service. In addition to their usual use, the Thesis have a special version: a limousine that incorporating our Isolite product. The car also accompanied Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, then President of the Republic, who never failed to emphasize his love for the Lancia.

In the same way, the Maserati Quattroporte has become an icon of elegance and prestige, embodying the encounter between the Italian artisan tradition and the most modern safety technologies, also used by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. In conclusion, Isoclima’s commitment to the automotive sector goes beyond glass production. It is a story of innovation, security and collaboration that continues to shape the future of road mobility.

With ongoing projects such as the Alfa Romeo Tonale, Isoclima once again demonstrates its leading role in providing high-performance glass solutions for law enforcement and security services around the world.
