Multilayer panels: sizes and characteristics of a product offering multiple levels of protection

23/02/2022

Multilayer panels meet the most diverse needs due to their versatility and innovative technology, and are highly sought after by the market. These solutions have specific sizes and characteristics, offering customers a product that meets anything from the simplest to the most complex protection requirements. Which, for example? Protection against sunlight and external hazards are the most “basic”, whereas solutions offering protection against electromagnetic interference, firearm attacks or explosives are more complex and particular. Each panel is processed specifically for its intended use, based on the customer’s needs.

Many products, one criterion: technology and reliability

Each Isoclima product is conceived, designed and manufactured according to a criterion that blends technology and reliability at every phase of production. Added to this is the extremely high customisation of our products, like the sizes of our multilayer panels based on our customers’ requirements.

Our multilayer panels, made up of a float or Gorilla glass plate with plastic films (PVB, polyurethane), contain a combination of polycarbonate glass and the above-mentioned plastic films. At the customer's requests, we insert either films or metal deposits in the composition to reduce the impact of sun rays and/or electromagnetic interference. What does the composition of the panel depend on? The level of security required, based on the dangers faced by the people inside the building. As a result, the panel can perform various functions, offering protection against bullets and explosives.

How to develop a multilayer panel

Multilayer panels are laminated in cleanrooms subjected to meticulous temperature and humidity controls. The purpose of the cleanroom is to obtain fault-free products with first-rate lamination reliability.

Customisation is not limited to the size of multilayer panels, which can be produced in various shapes and be spherical, cylindrical, conical, flat, and so on.
During lamination, certain technical requirements can be customised according to the final use. Lamination is carried out in an autoclave, the heat and pressure of which is set, specifically for each type of multilayer panel, based on the conditions of use. The construction of multilayer panels is studied and certified according to the requirements of use. The main uses include:

-                     Thermal insulation

-                     Protection from sunlight, UV/IR radiation

-                     Sound insulation

-                     Decoration and design

Multilayer panels are produced using either chemical strengthening or thermal tempering to further enhance their mechanical resistance.
