Always at your side: Isoclima and the design of civilian armoured vehicles for the protection of people

12/04/2022

The technological evolution that led to the concept of “armour plating” has become increasingly widespread, to the point that, in addition to the military and diplomatic sphere, civilian armoured vehicles are gaining more and more attention in the private sector.

In our minds, we usually associate such protection technology with the famous cars driven by James Bond; vehicles that it is virtually impossible to destroy.
And indeed, car manufacturers have increased their production of protected, armoured cars. Any car can be protected, based on the user’s requirements. As regards the production of glass, we at Isoclima work in two directions: on products certified on a par with the original glass, as in the case of Omnigard®, and on designs created from scratch, such as Omniarmor®. An option that gives us the opportunity to collaborate with the world's most famous automotive brands.

How do we approach armoured vehicles?

We are leaders in the development of armoured and bullet-proof glass for civilian armoured vehicles, ranging from anti-bandit products to accessories with the highest levels of ballistic protection.

As mentioned earlier, the production of such glass is carried out together with the companies that commission the work: Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Stellantis, Volvo, Brabus and private outfitters are just a few of the customers with whom we have been working assiduously for some time now. Our production includes one-offs and standard pieces, all produced in compliance with  certified, qualified national and international road standards.

Road safety is very important to us. Indeed, every Isoclima solution is certified and type-approved in accordance with the strictest standards and regulations, with which we comply effortlessly and with the greatest pleasure. Because the protection of people is always our top priority.

Collaborations and success stories

Whether we are creating glass for institutional vehicles, military bodies or civilian armoured vehicles, every solution is developed alongside the outfitter in order to optimise the glass’ integration in the vehicle’s overall armour.

Let's take a look in greater detail. Ballistic protection for civilian vehicles follows these technical specifications: from 9 mm Luger to Vpam 10 7.62x54 Dragunov. Armoured cars can be sedans, SUVs, sports cars and limousines.

Among our most outstanding works are:

-                     The Mercedes G-Class, developed by the German tuning company Brabus, an armoured car capable of withstanding extremely harsh and complex attacks. It has a VR6 level of ballistic protection and offers protection against 7.62x39 calibre bullets.

-                     The Mercedes Benz S-Class, armoured by Van Berkel with  highest protection , the greatest protection concerning ballistic tests reserved for civilian vehicles. Capable of withstanding firearms and explosions, this car is the ultimate in people safety.

-                     The Aston Martin DB 11, also armoured by the outfitter Trasco-Bremen. With level 4 ballistic protection, the sports car by the famous British manufacturer combines the beauty of luxury with the Isoclima safety guarantee.
