Large sizes and extreme, complex curvatures – our approach to glass for the shipping industry

20/07/2022

Shipbuilding is a highly competitive sector rich in specific notions, demands and technicalities. It is an important industry from an economic and social point of view, not only because it provides many jobs, but also because it contributes to the lustre of a country.

Being involved in the shipbuilding is a great opportunity for us in terms of developing our business, because the architecture and design of ships evolve so fast that failing to meet demand pushes you right out of the market.

Hence, the production of glass for the shipping industry is an excellent opportunity for us at Isoclima, and here’s why.

Customisation and technology, side by side

Whoever said that customisation has its drawbacks when compared to mass production? When it comes to craftsmanship, people often think that the products are indeed of better quality, but are somehow lacking compared to the objects produced by large companies.

This is not the case here: responding to the needs of our customers with glass adapted to the needs of the shipbuilding sector requires no compromise; on the contrary, it enhances the object by increasing its value.

Drawing on the concept of co-designing products with the customer and architect, we produce large glass panes marked by advanced technologies and “aggressive” compositions, to ensure utmost comfort on board. Isoclima is the go-to choice for any architect wishing to leave his mark through plays of glazed surfaces onboard luxury yachts.

Performance and sustainability

Craftsmanship is not our only commitment.

Sustainability, coupled with a desire to deliver incredible performance, is also a constant in our work.

This is why we have obtained environmental certifications that confirm our respect for nature; and why we have worked hard to reduce the thickness of our glass (hence reducing the weight of the vessels) and to reduce energy waste from air conditioning systems through the use of UV and IR filters as standard on both curved and flat laminated glass panes.

This allows light to enter, illuminating the room, while keeping the heat outside.

The ultimate comfort ensured by Isoclima glass.
