Isoclima’s journey in the automotive sector and the design of high-performance glass has deep roots dating back to the 1980s when the collaboration with Stellantis, then Fiat, began to bear fruit. The first significant project was for the Fiat Argenta, commissioned for the President of the Republic. In this case, we introduced a laminated armored glass, keeping the original external windows and adding an internal one. From that moment on, a series of important projects marked the company’s history, including the Fiat Croma (a fully armored flagship car used for the security of state representatives) and the Fiat Marea (the first to be produced at the Mirafiori industrial plant), both of which revolutionized the concept of automotive protection in Italy. The Fiat Marea paved the way for semi-armored police cars, thanks to its armored windshield and sides and rear window with shatterproof technology.

Dozens of Cars, One Safety

Every Isoclima project in the automotive sector carries with it a constant commitment to safety and innovation. The collaboration with Stellantis is based on our reliability when it comes to high-performance glass. From the Alfa Romeo 156 to the Fiat Bravo, from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta to the recent Alfa Romeo Giulia, every car has benefited from the experience and advanced technology offered by Isoclima. From armored windshields to shatterproof side windows, every detail has been designed to ensure maximum protection for drivers and passengers. And it’s not just about safety: Isoclima glass, while offering uncompromised protection, maintains impeccable optical properties, ensuring an unparalleled driving experience. A significant milestone is represented by the Fiat Bravo. Produced from 2007 to 2014, it featured a semi-armored version intended for law enforcement. In this project, vehicles were strengthened for the first time ballistically with the use of ballistic steel components.

Beyond Glass

Isoclima’s commitment to innovation goes beyond safety and the creation of high-performance glass. Projects like the Lancia Thesis and the Maserati Quattroporte demonstrate the company’s ability to push the boundaries of automotive engineering. An emblematic case is the Lancia Thesis, which represents a further evolution in our R&D process: produced from 2002 to 2009, it was designed in different levels of ballistic protection. Some models transported heads of state and served as escort vehicles. In addition to their usual use, the Thesis had a special version: a limousine that featured our IsoLite® product. This car also accompanied Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the then-President of the Republic, who would often express his love for Lancia cars. Similarly, the Maserati Quattroporte became an icon of elegance and prestige, embodying the meeting of Italian craftsmanship tradition and the latest security technologies. It was even used by President Sergio Mattarella.

In conclusion, Isoclima’s commitment in the automotive sector goes beyond the production of glass. It is a story of innovation, safety, and collaboration, which continues to shape the future of road mobility. With ongoing projects like the Alfa Romeo Tonale, Isoclima once again demonstrates its role as a leader in providing high-performance glass solutions for law enforcement and security services worldwide.
