Raising the Standard in School Security Glazing- With the NGA

At Isoclima Specialty Glass / Global Security Glazing, we believe in staying ahead of the curve — especially when it comes to glazing solutions for educational environments. That’s why we’re proud to work closely with the National Glass Association (NGA), the largest trade group in North America for the glass and glazing industry. Through that partnership, we’re aligning our product and fabrication efforts with the NGA’s latest guidance on school security glazing, as detailed in Technical Paper FB71-24, “School Security Glazing.”

The NGA document outlines the importance of understanding threats and hazards and of choosing glazing systems that are appropriately tested to resist forced entry, ballistic threats, blast threats, and more. It emphasizes that security glazing goes well beyond safety glazing — while safety glazing helps reduce injury from accidental impact, security glazing is designed to resist intentional attack and delay intrusion.

What this means for our customers:

  • Every school or institution needs a tailored glazing strategy, based on vulnerability assessment, location, exposure and threat profile.
  • Products should be certified and tested to recognized standards such as ASTM F3561, ASTM F1233 and ANSI Z97.1, among others.
  • Specifying the right system means considering the frame, anchorage, interlayers, laminated glass components, and the complete glazing assembly—not just the glass pane.

Our team at Isoclima/Global Security Glazing is committed to meeting — and exceeding — these standards. We’re investing in the right materials, quality processes and rigorous testing to provide glazing that supports the safety of students, faculty and staff.

Thank you for trusting us with your glazing and security-glazing needs. As the NGA guidance evolves, we’ll be right there changing with it — offering solutions designed for performance, durability and peace of mind.
